Situated between mainland Yemen and Somalia in the Arabian Sea, the island of Socotra has long held a fascination for voyagers, botanists , adventurers and ecologists. This extraordinary island has hundreds of endemic species of animal and plant life - including 'bottle trees' and the amazing 'Dragon's Blood' tree, which produces a resin that locals used as an anti-septic and for make-up. The island has a stunning and incredibly varied landscape ranging from mountains, sand dunes, endless white sand beaches, to canyons, rivers and wadis, and fascinating friendly people with their own unique culture and language.
