'I built my life on the rock of change' - Joan Littlewood was an iconic figure in British Theatre from the 1950's to 1970's, and her revolutionary approach changed the face of British theatre forever. On Sunday 4 October 2015 her friends, former company members and the new generation who have inherited her legacy unveiled a sculpture of Joan by Philip Jackson in the square in front of the Theatre Royal Stratford East - a theatre she rescued from the rubble and made the home of Theatre Workshop.
