Thaipoosam Cavadee Festival 2018 / Island Life....
The Thaipoosam Cavadee festival is celebrated by Mauritian Tamils each year on the full moon of the Tamil month of Thai (Jan/Feb), as a way of showing their affection and allegiance to Lord Muruga. Many devotees on the ceremonial procession will have their tongue and cheeks ritualistically pierced by spears known as vels. More information here: http://pages.intnet.mu/fullspot/Events/Cavadee.htm
